Financial Report: Climate Specialty Group
The Climate Specialty Group would like to thank Sandie Mather for her continued support of the John Russell Mather Paper of the Year contest, through her generous donation of $1,000 to the CSG account. Expenses during the 2007 meeting were somewhat greater than the dues received for the year since. The estimated expenses for the 2008 meeting are less than 2007, due solely to the local nature of the plenary speaker. In a typical year, such as next year in Las Vegas, plenary speaker expenses will be much higher when the person travels by air and stays in a hotel. Therefore, a net decline in our balance should be observed over the next few years, which was our intent when we increased student paper contest prizes and increased out contribution to the Physical Geography reception.
